This music comes from J. S. Bach’s Cantata 147 but only became widely popular after it was transcribed for piano by Dame Myra Hess in 1926.
Since then it has become, along with the Canon in D and Trumpet Voluntary, the most requested music for wedding ceremonies. It is suitable for seating of parents, the bridesmaids, or even the bride herself.
